About Us

Hi, I'm Lori! I started out my adult life training to be a social worker. I even have a Master's Degree in Social Work. As I was finishing my degree, my oldest daughter developed health problems. By the end of my first year in the field as a social worker, we found out that my daughter had a terminal illness named Mitochondrial Disease. After spending many weeks away from my job due to her hospitalizations, I decided to stay home with my 2 children.

I decided to "domesticate" myself since I was now going to be a stay at home mom. (While I loved that some women stayed home, I just wasn't planning on doing that myself :)) Anyway, my interest in sewing had been piqued while I was in college, so I contacted my locally owned sewing store and found some sewing classes that I could take. I began these classes in 2003 and totally fell in LOVE with sewing. Sewing became my outlet for creativity and escape from thinking about the major life changes I was going through.

Not only did sewing help me psychologically, it also helped me bring in a little income as well. I originally started my trade show and online business under the name Dolly Outfitters in 2007. Having 2 girls, I loved sewing for them and their dolls. I created a couple of unique products and had some fun selling them.

However, in recent years, I've dreamed of a business that didn't limit my scope of design possibilities so much.

I Sew Cute is the vehicle that will take my dream of expanding my product potential and make it a reality. It is a pattern store committed to quality sewing patterns for women, children, and their doll friends :) It will include clothing pieces as well as accessories since I also have a love of handbags and carry-all bags :)

I Sew Cute is dedicated to my two children, Megan and Monica. A portion of each pattern purchase will be used to help families who have special needs children in Megan's memory.
